Ayesha Kapila

she/her

I'm a BACP-registered integrative psychotherapist and counsellor, offering in-person therapy in East London (E2) and online across the UK.

I offer a calm, culturally aware space to explore what's bringing you to therapy — whether that's feeling stuck or overwhelmed, navigating a difficult life transition, or simply wanting to understand yourself more deeply.

I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, with particular experience supporting women from the Global Majority — a term that recognises people of ethnic minority heritage as the majority of the world's population.

Alongside my work as a therapist, I have a background in arts and culture — an interest that continues to shape how I think about identity, storytelling, and the way we make sense of our lives.

What I help with

I support people navigating a wide range of experiences, including:

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Childhood trauma

  • Challenges with sex and intimacy

  • Cultural and cross-cultural concerns

  • Exploration around neurodiversity and self-discovery

  • Questions of spirituality, belonging, and meaning

  • Identity, self-worth, and self-esteem

  • The emotional impact of illness and chronic conditions

  • The effects of past abuse and relational trauma

I have specialist experience supporting women of the Global Majority navigating grief, childhood trauma, relational wounds, and the effects of systemic oppression.

What clients say

"Therapy with Ayesha has helped me on both a foundational and a practical level. It's given me the space to make sense of things from my past and understand myself more deeply — which has created a stronger emotional foundation. At the same time, it's given me practical tools I can actually use in everyday life. Together, both aspects have made a real difference in how I feel and cope."

"When I first arrived at therapy, I couldn't see a future for myself. Now I can. After six months, I'm much more independent. I'm hopeful — for my own business, finding my own home and creating a safe space for my family, for my future travels around the world."

My approach

Integrative psychotherapy is a flexible approach that draws from different therapeutic models and evidence-based practices, shaped around your individual experiences and needs.

I work responsively and intuitively, drawing primarily on psychodynamic and Jungian traditions, with additional training in trauma and grief work. Rather than following a fixed method, I work in a way that suits you.

Relationship is at the heart of how I work. I aim to offer a grounded, compassionate, and collaborative space where you feel safe to explore and reflect. Together we might look at patterns, memories, dreams, or everyday experiences — and where helpful, I may also draw on simple grounding or breathing practices to support you.

I'm committed to practising ethically and sustainably. My work is professionally supervised and guided by the BACP's Ethical Framework.

Sessions and fees

I offer both short-term therapy (typically 6–12 sessions) and open-ended work, for adults online across the UK and in person in Bethnal Green, East London. Sessions are 50 minutes, scheduled weekly or fortnightly at a time that works for both of us.

You're welcome to a free 15-minute consultation to ask questions and get a sense of how we might work together. If I don't think I'm the right fit, I'll say so honestly and, where possible, point you towards a therapist or service who may be a better match.

The first session lasts one hour (£80) and is a chance to explore what's brought you to therapy, think about what approach might suit you, and get a feel for how we'll work together — with no obligation to continue.

My standard fee is £80 per 50-minute session. I also hold a small number of reduced-cost places for those on a low income.
